@zulu99
i tried doing the update today.
was on full android nougat.
so i download Oreo recovery image from Nvidia and proceed to flash.
all was well until the very end.
after flashing magisk and rebooting. I am stuck in android boot splash.
i was thinking of going back to bootloader and rewipe again.
but~~! i am not able to boot into fastboot!
plugging in the controller nearest to the HDMI port then hold button A and B as I connect the the power, no luck!
not going into bootloader.
while stuck at the android splash screen, when i try connecting to my laptop and do a adb devices.
my laptop actually sees the Shield TV but as unauthorised device.
how can I go into fastboot and redo.
[ROM][Full Android Oreo for Shield TV][v.1.10]
Re: [ROM][Full Android Oreo for Shield TV][v.1.3]
If you installed stock Oreo, is near impossible that you can't go in fastboot mode because the bootloader is already updated.setopbox wrote:@zulu99

Try to connect also the usb to PC and retry to go in fastboot with A + B on the hardware controller. The only way to recover the device is going in fastboot mode.
Try also after a wile. Shield TV powered off for a wile.
Restart also the PC, check drivers and cables. reconnect all cables.
You forget to do fastboot -w when you installed the stock Oreo firmware.

Oreo was installed, and I went in to enable debugging also before rebooting into fastboot and flash Full android.zulu99 wrote: If you installed stock Oreo, is near impossible that you can't go in fastboot mode because the bootloader is already updated.

There is no reasons that the device can't go in fastboot mode.

After full android, and magisk, device will not boot.. i'll switch off everything for a bit like you suggest.

You forget to do a fastboot -w when you switched between two firmwares or you installed a boot image instead of another.setopbox wrote:Oreo was installed, and I went in to enable debugging also before rebooting into fastboot and flash Full android.zulu99 wrote: If you installed stock Oreo, is near impossible that you can't go in fastboot mode because the bootloader is already updated.

Otherwise the firmware must start. I flashed on my 2015 and 2017 models millions times.
But not problems, you can commit also errors, the device, since have the new bootloader, must go in fastboot mode always.
And from fastboot you can do again everything.
What is strange is that your device not go in fastboot mode with hardware method. For this reason my previous suggestion to check cables, pc, drivers, power off for awile.

You can also enter fastboot with a USB KEYBOARD instead of the SHIELD CONTROLLER, pressing A + B

Thanks sir, unfortunatly it does not work also..
Gawd... I think I just got myself an expensive paper weight.
Re: [ROM][Full Android Oreo for Shield TV][v.1.3]
The fact the SATV can't enter in fastboot mode is completly independent from the fact that you flashed something erratic or not. You can flash also a Windows firmware for error, a good device must always enter in fastboot mode and permit you to re-flash the stock firmware.setopbox wrote:Andro.Gamer wrote: You can also enter fastboot with a USB KEYBOARD instead of the SHIELD CONTROLLER, pressing A + B

Contact Nvidia support and for sure they will help you.
Everything related to bootloader is Nvidia fault and must be considered as hardware fault.
A bootloader can be updated only with another bootloader signed by Nvidia and with succesive versions. With a working bootloader, an Android device must always go in fastboot mode.
No one can flash an erratic bootloader since the bootloader to be flashable must be signed by Nvidia.
The last thing that i can suggest is:
While you put your device in fastboot mote, make sure that hdmi is connected to TV and that screen of the TV dislay the HDMI output where SATV is connected.
Try also this in case you not solve:

@zulu99
I tried your oreo boot.img on my stock shield (as a root method, not intalling your android fw)
and magisk apk would crash.
is it supposed to work on stock too? or only on your fw?
thanks

I have a SATV dedicated exclusivly for Android TV just to test DroidMote functionalities for DroidMote users that are on stock.
Soon we will have new verions of Magisk more stable about the loss root status, but for now, if you have problem with magisk, read the second post of this thread.
