Ndivia has just launched a new update the 3.2.

Is this update necesary for your room or not??

Thanks.
I'm already on the 3.2 update.

But there is a problem, i don't know what there is new.

The plex media server can be installed and works also on full android 1.2
we can mount nas as internal disks from many times in full android.
and we are based on android 6.0.1 instead the nvidia 3.2 update is still android 6.0

please let me know what we need from this update. i don't want work if we don't need nothing.

i will share the plex media server apk later on google plus. otherwise you can update the plex media server from stock 3.2 firmware and after get the apk from /data/app

you can add library to the plex media server on shield tv from the plex website.

P.S.
but for sure i will update the firmware later to have Dolby Atmos and HDR in Netflix and update the build.prop
should be a simple work replace only some audio video precompiled binaries.
Thanks.

I asked you about the new ndivia update because i didnt know what improves had this update and if it was necesary for your room.

Nothing special.

Thanks for your explications.

Ciao.
for sure i will update the firmware with something, but right now we can do everything.
expecially the plex media server that is the best part of this update. is a simple apk that we can install. because we can already mount a samba share as internal disk and share the disk via samba with many apps. ( share the disk of shield via samba is not so necessary, instead mount a smb share as internal disk is very useful )

however a message for everyone:
if you found something very useful that we don't have let me know

about the google play store update, also to me happen today. update of wrong tv version.

and for now i updated the buil.prop of system and vendor folders with the word full_foster_e instead of foster_e
uninstall the garbage google play store app for tv and installed the last normal version from apkmirror.com

i want say that this is a momentary problem ( that we can solve easly )
If you have the original name foster_e, this happen only when the tv verion have the same version number or greater than the normal google play version.

but usually the normal google play version have always a version number greater than TV version.
But Google is happy when can breack the balls :)

however for now i have full_foster_e but in short time i return to foster_e so Google can't understand that we run full android and not android tv. Otherwise he can add others limitations.

this is the plex media server apk

https://mega.nz/#!fBB10Zhb!wOZAhMrxEz69 ... Z99LZsbDqM

you need also the client version installed (also in the stock firmware is so )

after you can configure the server via web plex.tv -> launch (also in the stock firmware is so )

to mount a smb share as internal disk you can read this:

I have a dubt so of moment we have to change the build.prop for google play runs nice and put in the word full_foster_e but later you say that in a short time you return to put foster_e.

So my question is when we have to return to original build.prop??

I refer to come back to put foster_e instead of full_foster_e.

Thanks a lot.

zulu99 wrote:In case you need to access the drives of your Shield TV via samba shares, you can use SambaDroid

It work very well, but to have it working you must disable selinux. From terminal emulator:
su
setenforce 0

If you need a more generic way to transfer files over wifi i suggest the app Wifi file transfer
https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... letransfer

If you need to mount a network share into the filesystem, you can use this CifsManager app http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpos ... tcount=537 that under the hood use "su --mount-master -c" instead of "mount" otherwise from terminal:

su

su --mount-master -c mount -t cifs -o rw,username=your_username,password=your_password,file_mode=0777,dir_mode=0777 //192.168.xxx.xxx/your_share /data/media/0/your_share
-- You need an username and password if you want mount a windows 10 share, i tested and works.
-- Attention to /data/media/0/ and not others folders
-- to mount my smb share on my router i added also the parameter sec=ntlm

https://youtu.be/XXvgqbJl-Dg

In additions to the others millions ways that you already know.

With root you can do everything, you don't need to wait update of the manufacturer for basic functionalities.

Hey zulu, is there a way I can mount my drive using CIFS manager on boot?

I am currently running this ROM (full android 1.2) but may need to re-install it to fix some issues. Is there anyway to do that without wiping the device? Can I just reflash my over current full android 1.2?

New Google Play store app is ready.
http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc ... -download/

Version 6.8.20

What this mean ?
That when the normal Google Play store app have a version number higher than the TV version, is not necessary change the build.prop with full_foster_e instead than default foster_e

Why i don't want change permanently the build.prop and not have anymore this problem ?
Because services like chromecast could not works with a different name. Is a tech problem ? NO, are just impositions made from the dear Google inc.

P.S.
Soon we will have a wonderful full Android based on 3.2 stock firmware. I'm testing many things, but i already have a super fast and complete beta build with all the base improvments added in 3.2. the base for vudu, youtube, plex trascoding, HDR, Dolby Atmos, etc. etc.
