I am rooted but have not yet installed the full ROM. I also understand this isn't the most on topic question but I thought I'd ask...

My primary purpose for rooting is to install CF.Lumen to save our sleep quality at night. (It's pretty cool that Chainfire is working on it again after a couple years of stagnation).

However, CF.lumen requires permission to "modify system settings" but I can't figure out how to enable this in the default Shield interface. Is it even possible to give apps "modify system settings" in the default rooted ROM?

Thanks for making rooting so easy zulu99!

Hi, I'm new to the Nvidia shield and have a few questions:
Can i flash back to stock rom after flash this custom rom?
The service GeForce now is still working in this rom? And Nvidia controller works (rumble etc)?
Is there a performance improvement (in emulators and such) using this ROM?
Thanks

@Golly it should prompt you but if not goto settings, apps n notifications, select app, then you can control permissions from there

@2FG It's not really a Permission. In regular Android it's found in the Advanced section of the App Info page.

Lock the bootloader means that you can run only firmware signed by the manufacturer and this is not our intention.

Apart my work to restore full Android, for 98% of the core parts, this firmware is identical to the stock Nvidia firmware.

Therefore, if you find some problems, make sure that are not generic know problems present also in the stock firmware. For this problems, we have the Nvidia developer at work, to solve with next 7.2.2 update.

I already explained how to solve the bad colors on Chrome browser, the others problems will be solved by Nvidia soon.

To respond to another question of a friend in previous post, with magisk root, we can write the system partition without problems. I usually use es file explorer paid version, but you can use everything you want.

Idiots developers in others forums that suggested to root darcy without a custom dtb to disable dm-verity, can't write system partition. Instead we can because the custom dtb disable dm-verity and therefore can accept custom firmwares and also write in system partition.

@ 2FG I didn't get it sorted. :P
I can't find those setting in the Shield interface.

@zulu99
So you're saying, since those permissions aren't accessible via the Nvidia interface, I can write the permissions to the file system my self. I'll look into it. Thanks!
