Ubuntu 14.04 server system with French AZERTY keyboard attached.
Android device being used for remote input

When using QWERTY KB on android, characters are recognized on server as though entering on AZERTY keyboard.
When using AZERTY KB on android, characters are recognized on server as though entering on QWERTY keyboard.

Result - major pain in the A!

On server side set the english languages. And on android side set the english keyboard.

But you can create also a custom keylayout. DroidMote emulate an hardware keyboard, therefore it send scan codes. You can map this scan codes like you want.
