Maybe you have installed something that interfere.
On my Shield with full Android works well.

I can suggest to make a factory reset, or reinstall the firmware if you have changed also things in system.

What do you have 16 GB or 500 GB ?

I have installed Google Play Store 6.5.08 after the auto-update failed.

Why is it that the OTA play store updates are incompatible?
How do we know which ones to update to from apkmirror?

You can download the last version from apk mirror. read the version number

http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc ... lay-store/

Why ? because Google want break the balls.
Google update in base at the device fingerprint inside the build.prop he can check the permissions for a better update.

I don't change the build.prop otherwise some stupid developers will filter things inside the build.prop to restrict some apps.

when you have an sdcard formatted as internal storage, all the apps that can be installed on the external storage are automatically installed on external storage. tested and work well.
But The developer can decide that an app is installable only on internal storage.

go in settings -> apps -> you app -> storage to see where the app is installed.

i tested only on Marshmallow, that is the firmware of this thread. In Lollipop i tested many months ago. I use only Marshmallow now.
Is possible that Google disabled the service on Lollipop, if Google wants can.

I installed some apps Zulu, but all of them are installed first in Internal, then i have to move to External by myself, they not installed auto on External.
Apps like Link2Sd or simmilar work for auto instalation in this case?

Also, i installed YouTube for Android TV 1.3.11 from apkmirror, install was ok, program is opening, but nothing more. When i try to watch something, is just loading and loading and loading...
