absolutely NO. You can decode 4K contents like a charm. Video decode and 3D graphic are the same in full Android and stock firmware.

you can test all 4k videos that you want and play with all graphic intensive games. Also H265 4k and opengl es 3.2

Shield TV with full Android inside is the best Android device in the world. You can't find nothing better than this.

But with Android TV inside the Shield TV become a Walled Garden like an Apple device.
I download the netflix apk i don't see the uhd option and on YouTube when i change the quality i don't see the 4k quality

I am looking for the Ethernet menu in this ROM, to enable DHCP or static IP, etc. I only have the Wifi menu. Any ideas on how to enable Ethernet menu? It works if I plug it in, just need menu :)

By defualt is DHCP,
but you can set your static ip on ethernet in the router.
go in the router config and assign to the mac address of shield tv a fixed IP

maybe is just a parameter that you can set with setprop, but i not investigated much because i use wifi and because is very simple assign a fixed ip on ethernet in the router config. also if wifi AC is very strong and fast.

I agree WiFi is very strong in this box. But I have a specific configuration I am deploying the box in an area without Wifi, and need to use Static IP. The Stock NV31 Firmware has an Ethernet settings UI. I'll gladly pay you to figure out how to add it into this Full Marshmallow ROM :)

In the second post you can find the Netflix version that support 4K, if your TV have all ok to support this resolution. ( HDCP 2.2 )

About Youtube i not know. For sure you can decode all 4k videos that you want. You can download the video from internet and test.

That an app add some restriction not mean that you are not able to do things. Usually Google try to control the market in this way, force users in some directions by enabling or disabling functionalities on specific devices.

we live in a bad digital world.

However with this firmware we have opengl es 3.2 and we can decode H265 HEVC 4K videos like a charm. A dream for all others Android boxes.
The beauty is that we can have this exceptional functionalities with a full Android version that is not a walled garden like Android TV, therefore we can use this strong power with all apps and games that the Android world can offer.

I'm happy that you are happy with your config, but everyone should explain to his wifes that we not use the limited Android TV OS because we don't want become slaves of Google, Amazon, Microsoft and others....
The power in the hands of few companies is very dangerous for the future and limits the freedom of choice.

Do not use Android TV if you don't want be a slave also on TV.
Android, the normal Android with root can help you.

I just did a fresh install bit I can't get the play store writing since there is no file explorer, and downloading any attachments crashes the default browser. Weekday can I do.

First off, great ROM! As soon as I can get everything set up and working properly, I'm sure it will be exactly what I want. However I'm having issues after installing it (v1.2.)The play store is not showing all apps like it should. It is showing only a very limited number of apps. Many apps that would show in full android like live wallpapers are missing or show as incompatible and some apps that should work for Nvidia Shield like Dead Trigger 2 are listed as not compatible. I installed on stock 3.1 firmware and installed most recent google play apk from apkmirror.com.

How can I fix this? Thanks for your assistance!
