So far I haven't heard of any improvements that I care about enough to go through the hassle. Did they fix the buggy external usb drive support?
The improvments of 1.3 are all the same that Nvidia published for 3.2 update.

I understand you, maybe you don't need HDR, plex server can be installed also on 1.2 ( also if 1.3 should transcode better )

The fact are not what Nvidia added, since i create a fusion between aosp source and nvidia proprietary things, in my 1.3 update things went better. I don't think is only my impression but the 1.3 seem more fluid, faster and with some priprietary things for vudu, plex and hdr

Now I have a Full Android 1.2, I want to clarify how do I update the firmware to version 1.3 correctly? Can I directly via fastboot do this or do I need to flash the first OTA 3.2 from NVIDIA, make a full cleaning in TWRP, and then sew 1.3?
Sorry my English.

Thanks Zulu!!!!!!
as i wrote above, you MUST install 3.2 stock firmware and after install full Android and you must wipe.
you must wipe because android tv in the user data add some components that have the same name but different version, specially for google play apps and services. but also others things.

the most easy way to install stock 3.2 firmware is with the ota from twrp. also if you are on full android 1.2
after, on top of 3.2 stock firmware you can install full android 1.3.

P.S.
i suggest to install the 3.2 stock firmware via OTA from TWRP, because you can have everything the update have inside, also bootloader, ramdisk and new kernel.

Any suggestions for easy backup, wipe, and reinstalling? Titanium or?
Titanium is one option. What I ended up doing is a little different:
Google Cast Receiver kept crashing until I cleared its data, but otherwise no problems so far.

Oh, one other note: the current build of TWRP cannot properly mount adopted storage, so if you have your sdcard set up as adopted storage then you will need to backup/restore from a USB drive.

I have done the full marshmallow v 1.3 on my 3.2 shield but now I can not access the play store. Says I have the wrong version of play store installed. I don't have a file explorer installed so I can't side load anything. I must be doing something wrong on the full marshmallow install. Any help would be appreciated.

should be not so, because the last normal google play version is 6.8.20.F-all [0] 3015572 and have a version number > of the android tv version.

however, also if for me google play update automatically to last good version, with the android browser that you have in the firmware, download from apkmirror the last gogole play version and install.

i think your problem is different, you not erased the old data of android tv. when you installed the firmware you not used also the command

fastboot -w

there is a reason if i suggest to clear data. in this way you delete the garbage installed from android tv.

clear data and you will solve.

for everyone:
on top of 3.2 stock firmware that you can install with the OTA zip from TWRP

fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash vendor vendor.img
fastboot -w

i suggest to clear data, you can do what you want, but if you don't clear data, please don't came here to request why you have some apps that not works well.

an alternative could be a backup only of the user data partirion with flashfire, and after when you have the firmware 1.3 installed restore the backup of the data partition.

but you have google play, is very simple reinstall apps, i suggest to backlup on a normal disk only the obb of the games becaue the obb can have big size.

Thank you for your help. I was able to do a full reinstall and everything is working ok.
Would like to figure out how to get my Vudu apk to play in something other than only SD.

You need the TV version that you can download from apkmirror.com
http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/nvidia-shi ... -download/

The name is Vudu for Shield Android TV

Vudu should work like on stock firmware, all lib are inside the firmware. If you have problems try setting, only for vudu, 320 DPI with the AppSettings xposed module.
The only one difference from the stock firmware is this.

Don't forget that for apps like this and also for Netflix, to have real 4k, you need a 4k tv with hdcp 2.2 protection.

Hi Zulu, I installed 1.3 and it works fine.

I noticed one of the features of stock missing: where you can mount NAS drives from the Settings. Lon Seidman covered it here.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=25cidGy ... LonSeidman

It's a shame since I can't use Plex Media Server without this feature, and I find CIFS awkward since it will disconnect after a reboot.
Is it possible to add this, or is it NVIDIA proprietary?
