zulu99 you good man, you spend your day updating and again updating just so every body sys is correct, please every one make donation.

im now on 1.4 all went well, i made a back up of data partition only through flashfire and twrp of 1.2 before i updated but after update i installed my back up and it seems that no app data was installed, no kodi data, short cuts not working but icon still on home page, is there something i can do or just start over? i tried both backups flashfire and twrp same outcome.

If the backup was not good. You must clear data.

But i repeat, for all others, if you come from 1.3, you can install only the system.img of 1.4 without wipe data.

You must wipe obbligatory when you come from an Android TV firmware.

Personally i wipe every time i reinstall the firmware because i don't trust reinstall old data. I do this also on my nexus devices.

The version I found was named 'com.twimager.cifsmanager.apk' and another site named it '689.Ryan.Conrad-Mount.Manager_v1.0.41.apk', both binary comparison being equal. It is not available in the Play Store. There is a button for license purchase but that's no longer functional, so I don't know if I'll run into problems after a grace period.

I've tried it, it works. But if anyone has any license info or warnings about virus or malware, I'd like to hear it.
Thanks, works very well.

i downloaded from here:
http://android-apk.org/apk/com.twimager ... t+manager/

you need only busybox that you can download from here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... ybox&hl=en

P.S.
Personally, although I could, i don't use the Plex Server on Shield TV.
For me Shield TV is a client and as Plex client i use Kodi with the PlexKodiConnect add-on

I use a small atom x86 with ubuntu 16.04 for PLex Server, NAS, aria 2 server, tvheadend for live tv, ssh, xrdp etc. etc.
Ububtu on x86 is more versatile to be a server.

Android is an excellent client but is not so versatile to be a server, apart that i don't want ruin my precious Shield TV. When i not use the Shield TV i power off it, instead the small atom x86, that consume also less power, can be replaced with many others chinese cheap models.

Unfortunally DVB-T C S receivers are not supported from Shield TV and products like tvheadend are not supported in Android.

should be not so, because the last normal google play version is 6.8.20.F-all [0] 3015572 and have a version number > of the android tv version.

however, also if for me google play update automatically to last good version, with the android browser that you have in the firmware, download from apkmirror the last gogole play version and install.

i think your problem is different, you not erased the old data of android tv. when you installed the firmware you not used also the command

fastboot -w

there is a reason if i suggest to clear data. in this way you delete the garbage installed from android tv.

clear data and you will solve.

for everyone:
on top of 3.2 stock firmware that you can install with the OTA zip from TWRP

fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash vendor vendor.img
fastboot -w

i suggest to clear data, you can do what you want, but if you don't clear data, please don't came here to request why you have some apps that not works well.

an alternative could be a backup only of the user data partirion with flashfire, and after when you have the firmware 1.3 installed restore the backup of the data partition.

but you have google play, is very simple reinstall apps, i suggest to backlup on a normal disk only the obb of the games becaue the obb can have big size.

Zulu,
Sorry, I need some specific instructions here.

I downloaded the new 3.2 stock file as well as your new 1.4 full android. What is the exact process for installing? Is this through ADB or can I install all of this via TWRP? I'm getting mixed messages based on what I am reading here.

If you could take a minute and list the basic steps in order I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks!!

As first step you can install the 3.2 stock firmware with twrp recovery installing the ota zip file.

When you have the stock 3.2 firmware installed, you can install full android 1.4 via fastboot.

fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash vendor vendor.img
fastboot -w
fastboot reboot

Is more simple to do than to write.

Thanks Zulu,
Just upgraded from 1.3 to 1.4 by flashing the system.img as your described and all is good. :)
No if we could get the green power light to go off when system sleeps or set dimmer

You can

In the stock firmware the green led values are:

/sys/class/leds/led_lightbar/brightness

High = 255

Medium = 80

Low = 20

Off = 0

To set the new value:

echo xxx > /sys/class/leds/led_lightbar/brightness

where xxx is one of the previous values.

Personally i prefer the green light always on at 255 max level because when i not use the device i completely power off it.
In this way i can understand also if the device is completely powered off or in standby.
If you prefer you can change, but i suggest to power off the device when you not use it, for a longer life of the device and to save money.
