Re: [ROM][Full Android Marshmallow for Shield TV][v.1.4]
I see a lot of posts inside Google Plus of users that requests if is better a Chinese Android box or a Google Android TV box.
Can someone explain to these users that here we have the best of the two worlds ?
Shield TV with a full Android version inside mean have all the DRM garbage of Android TV and the versatility of Android.
Android Tv was an attempt to monopolize the market fighting the Chinese Android boxes and force users to buy many expensive services.
How Android Tv can do this ?
Simply with Mafia methods. Google not certify Chinese Android box and companies like Netflix not grant widevine license to this boxes because are not Google certified. Therefore an user can't use well a Chinese TV box because many DRM apps not work.
But with full Android on Shield TV we can have the best of the two worlds, we can have all the DRM garbage if we have many money and we can have also the versatility of Android when we want free stuff. Apart that with full Android we can execute well everything a real Android device can execute.
Who chose Android TV is an user that accept a future where to buy an Android box he must spend more money and you must also pay for every services. Many paid services with drm mean many money. also if for now you use only Kodi. Tomorrow you can have Kodi on a device that sell movies ?
Full Android instead mean freedom of choice of hardware and software.
My work is not only a firmware, but an attempt to defend the rights of android on TV users. I think that you should be able to choose what you want without impositions and especially without the monopolization of the market.
Do not get me wrong, I'm not against paid services, I hate companies who want to force users in some directions in ways that go against free market competition. I'm against monopoly and the theft of personal data of users.

Re: [ROM][Full Android Marshmallow for Shield TV][v.1.4]
Hi everybody, I'm a proud owner of a Shield TV 500Gb running Full Android ROM.
Thank you Zulu for that luxery you have provided trough your ROM...
i am however having problems with button mapping tools like "Tincore Keymapper", "GameKeyboard +", "DOO GAMEPAD" on your fabulous ROM.
The given examples are the ones i usually use for button mapping...
i use these apps to map gamepad buttons/d-pad/joysticks to on screen controls in non gamepad supporting games on my other "old" TV set-top boxes (tronsmart Vega S89-H and Ugoos UT3) and it works with trial and error but, i get it to function however i want on my "old" TV set-top boxes...
As an example i used "GameKeyboard +" and "Tincore Keymapper" to play "Across Age 1&2" , "Final Freeway" amongst several other games that never had native gamepad support on my old boxes.
I want to do the same on my Shield TV since i own several gamepads (several BT and wired ones) and i want to use them with a lot of my games and not just with emulators... (with emulators they work great so they are supported by the Shield TV)
With the Shield Full android ROM the gamepad buttons register within the app and i am able to move them to the desired on screen positions however, when i press one of the buttons on my gamepad it does not seem to register as me virtually "touching" the imaginary touch screen on my TV...
Simply put: the button on the gamepad registers, the button mapper presses the virtual button, the virtual button does not seem to "touch" the imaginary touch screen... (hopefully everyone understands what i am trying to explain)
As far as i can understand what is going on, to me it is as if there is no "imaginary (virtual?) touch screen" for my on screen mapped gamepad buttons to interact with.
I rooted the rom before installing any other app and was able to put SELinux in "permissive mode" with an app called "SELinuxModeChanger-v3.2-release.apk" (tincore asked to do this for compatibility reasons)
I hope somebody can help me
I Would like to thank everybody who reads this and tries to help a fellow Shield owner out...

you can use DroidMote to play every touch-only games also with your hardware controller.alucard369 wrote:Hi everybody, I'm a proud owner of a Shield TV 500Gb running Full Android ROM.

You can tether the controller to your phone,
or you can run the server and the client on same device via 127.0.0.1 address and the hardware controller connected direcly to Shield TV.
If you use the server and the client on same device, you must enable the droidmoteIME, after you can put the client in background and thanks to touch profiles every controller action will be transformed in touch actions.
This is how to active droidmoteIME:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HDAT59PyYT0
A list of games played on Shield TV with DroidMote: ( touch profile already included in the description, but are made for the software controller )
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=P ... B9D757086B
P.S.
The best and easy way to play touch-only games, to have a wonderful experience, is play directly with your phone because many games have only a couple of buttons and a stick and because you can have also the touch mouse to click on buttons when you can't use an hardware mouse.
DroidMote can works in two different ways, like an hardware mouse and like a touch mouse. you can chose from client settings.

Re: [ROM][Full Android Marshmallow for Shield TV][v.1.4]
In case you want Mirror the screen of your Shield TV to your PC like you can do vs a Chromecast dongle, including audio and DRM apps, you can try Reflector 2 http://www.airsquirrels.com/reflector/features/win/
Naturally you can control the Screen of Shield TV with DroidMote
But for sure this service will be disabled soon, Google don't like the word "record" when you talk about mirroring.

Re: [ROM][Full Android Marshmallow for Shield TV][v.1.4]
about this kernel i not tested it, but you can test without problems, if not works well or you don-t like you can reinstall the stock kernel.beng wrote:Hi Zulu99

I don't know if have inside everything the stock kernel have. usually i not change for compatibility reasons. i don't trust the public Nvdia source code, usually Nvidia add things without publish the real source code. I not know for the kernel but for the android firmware for sure many parts are private and published only as precompile binaries.
But already now, you can play with droidmote and an xbox controller. also on stock kernel. Shield TV full Android support xbox 360 controller for pc like all others standard controllers. and the xbox controller for pc, also in wireless mode, works better than Nvidia controller.
The difference with this kernel and stock kernel is that xbox controller can turn off the green light on the controller, have new drivers, but nothing special.
I have an xbox 360 controller for pc and it works well on shield tv, for pc games, or better Nvidia streaming games is also better than the Nvidia controller because all pc games was developerd with the xbox controller in mind.
But personally i play everything with the software controller of DroidMote, for me is very important do everything with only one device, mouse, keyboard, touch mouse and controller at same time. i don-t like lose time on menu and static options with the sticks, for this actions i prefer the mouse if possible otherwise the touch mouse and to write something the soft android keyboard is the top.

Re: [ROM][Full Android Marshmallow for Shield TV][v.1.4]
so you use your phone as the controler, right?
(server on the shield and client on phone)
but for each touch game you need a profile (on the server/shield)?
