Zulu, I found you!
XDA was being crazy, glad you didn't give up but just moved to posting somewhere else.

Zulu, I'm wondering if you would consider doing something that would be greatly appreciated. I don't have the technical expertise, but I'm sure you do.

Do you have the knowledge to make the Nintendo Gamecube Adapter + Gamecube Controllers work on the shield? Someone already got it working on Linux, so I'm guessing someone smart like you would be able to do it pretty easily? I'd really appreciate it! I really want to play Smash Bros on my shield, but I need the gamecube controllers working. Also, it would be awesome to have working since we'd have 4 reliable controllers working for all games.

Thanks! I'd REALLY REALLY appreciate it.

I'm sorry but i don't have the Gamecube Controllers, and usually i play only native Android Games.
In Google Play there are millions of games, many of these are very nice games.

Understood, I am just wondering if you have the technical expertise to convert the linux support to android? Do you know much about this?

Is NOT impossible at first look. Is an user level driver that work with root.

P.S.
In Dolphin emulator should work
https://it.dolphin-emu.org/download/?cr=en

https://wiki.dolphin-emu.org/index.php? ... in#Android

Update:
I tested the game Super Smash Bros in the Dolphin emulator with DroidMote.
The controller works well, but the game inside the emulator is not good.
Android native games are another world. Every time i test an emulator, i delete it after 5 minutes.
I'm sorry.

For my test, i created the configuration Dolphin.ini with an old version of Dolphin for Android 4.0.5672

[Android]

After i installed the last Dolphin version and i attacched the [Android] part inside the new Dolphin.ini

If worked with DroidMote can work with all others controllers.

Therefore is not necessary have the Gamecube Controllers support ( that Dolphin emulator already have), because the emulator can work with all controllers, the problem is that the games inside emulator not work well.

Hi Zulu99,

I have managed to use the droidmote app finally. Just wondering if it is possible to install the stock apps of shield tv, specially the youtube which was specially made for android TV OS. Is there a website where you can get android TV OS apps (APKs)?

Thanks in advance.

98% of apps for Android TV works also on full Android. You must create only a shortcut like in this video to have the icon on the normal launcher:

You can find all free Android TV apps or in apkmirror.com or in apkpure.com

But the normal youtube app is 10000 times better than Android TV version. Like all others normal apps.

I agree the normal youtube app has many more options but Android TV version works well with TV remote through CEC. I couldn't find Android TV apps in apkmirror.com or in apkpure.com. Would really appreciate if you can point me to the right direction.
Thanks.

Could you also help with keeping the screen orientation at landscape horizontal. Few apps force it to vertical and it is really annoying. I have read this issue somewhere in the forum but can't find it anymore.
Thanks.

You can try with App settings xposed module or others apps like rotation locker to force some portrait-only.app in landscape.

But this is not a problem of the firmware, is just because the developer made the app only for phone and only in portrait mode.

Apart that normal youtube app have infinite more options and the app quality is better than Android TV version, but i really don't understand how an user can search videos with the directional keys ( write text ), or navigate the UI with the directional keys in fast way.
The life is too short to lose time with directiinal keys.I never used a smart TV in my life for this reason. Navigate apps, web pages and games with a remote that have only directional keys is crazy and add barriers to the user interaction. This is an old and surpassed logic.

Have you ever controlled the normal youtube app with DroidMote ? Is the best and faster way to have youtube in your TV. Like in your tablet but on a giant screen from your couch. Wonderful. And multi touch is not a problem but something that help a fast interaction.

Android TV apps are just garbage invented to limit users.
An user on Android TV can do quite nothing, and if the users can do quite nothing, big companies can earn better :)

I use Android on TV every day from many years, i could use a tv remote with directional keys, but i never used it.
Instead without DroidMote i I'm feeling lost.
