With Fastboot, flash the file boot_from_usb.img as recovery
fastboot flash recovery boot_from_usb.img
Connect the USB disk to Shield TV, from full Android, reboot to recovery to have Android TV.
Instead the normal boot start as always full Android.
Note:
The first start is slow becasue is like a new installation on the USB disk. Android will update all apps at first boot.
After can be also faster than your regular installation, it depends on your disk speed.
The system and vendor images files are the original stock converted to ext4. There is a tool for this simg2img
I'm missing something somewhere. I downloaded the compressed file, but when I opened it it only contained system and vendor images. su and recovery images weren't in it.
su
echo xxx > /sys/class/leds/led_lightbar/brightness
High = 255
Medium = 80
Low = 20
Off = 0
where xxx is one of the previous values.
Hi zulu,
Thanks for explaining that. I got it to work great, but on rebooting the shield, the green light comes back on. Am I supposed to run this terminal emulator command on every boot or can I get it to stay permanently/until I decided to change it? I am not a coder or very technically minded so I apologise if these are stupid questions but I am a little new to all of this....
Zulu I want to thank you for your Awesome Work. I bought Droidmote and am using on shield TV. You sir have unlocked my device.
I just registered to your forum here and getting caught up on the inner workings of Xda. I was not aware of the shit practices going on over their. I should have know when they locked your threads. That gave me a guy feeling!
My next purchase from you Zulu will be the touch profile creator. I am also going to try out full Android as now you can dual boot TV and full Android.
It's All about the Money these companies impose limitation after limitation almost every tech purchase I have made in last 4 years I'm consistently dissatisfied with what I can and cannot do. Part of my problem is impulse buying, not researching if root is available, Roms, and community is also available. I'm so sick of the greed.
When i reboot to recovery its asking android password, whether usb hd plugged or not?
But anyway thanks your hard work for this rom, its awesome.
Sorry my bad english..

and is a completly different thing from the link in the first post, that is for installation of full Android.
also a so simple thing like this can create confusion ?
I'm not an idiot, and no it wasn't hard but the first time I extracted the files from that archive not all of them were there. I downloaded the file again and they were there then. I'm not sure why they weren't the first time.

what is the difference rooted and unrooted ? with root everything can works and also better. And only when you have root you are the real owner of your device, otherwise you are just a guest in your device. security is when an user can disable this security, if the user can't disable the security is just a walled garden made for monopolize the market.
However I have just noticed that play store has stopped working. I get a message suggesting that it is incompatible with my device (nvidia shield pro). It also says that I should uninstall updates to the play store to fix it. I dont see the option to perform this uninstall in the app manager.
I believe I am running version 1.3 and I wonder if updating the system.img will fix the issue.
Any comment or help from you would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks again for all the hard work.
we are on 1.4 from long time. please update.
and about google play, you can read previous posts. I answered the question a thousand times

Finnish tv apps dont work with root, rootcloak etc. wont help. I need non root only for 3 apps.
